Raise a Glass to Shack Bay Brewing

There are plenty of ways to experience Inverloch. You can walk the coast, watch the waves, explore the shops, settle in for a long lunch... or find a cold Shack Bay beer and raise a glass to a pretty great local success story.

Born from a passion for good beer and a strong connection to Inverloch, Shack Bay Brewing started as a nomad brewery, brewing through partner breweries while building a following right here on the Bunurong Coast. Local support helped shape the beers, and the results have been rather impressive.

In 2026, Shack Bay Brewing was named Australia's Best Nomad Brewery at the Australian International Beer Awards, with all three beers entered taking home medals. The Pale Ale claimed Gold and finished in the Top 5 of a category with 139 entries, while the Hazy IPA took Silver and the IPA Bronze.

Not bad for a little brewery with big ambitions.

And now, the Shack Bay story is coming home.

The team has secured a site in Inverloch's industrial estate, with plans to establish its own brewery and begin brewing locally. The vision isn't about becoming the biggest brewery around. It's about creating something that belongs here, brewing great beer, supporting local businesses and giving locals and visitors another reason to enjoy Inverloch.

The new brewery is still taking shape, but you don't have to wait to taste what Shack Bay is brewing.

Their beers are already popping up around town, with Shack Bay on tap at Gather & Devour, Dirty Three Wines, Inverloch Surf Club, Inverloch Bowling Club, RACV Inverloch and The Sandbar. You can also pick up packaged beers from FoodWorks and Thirsty Camel Inverloch.

So, this winter, why not make your own little Shack Bay tasting tour?

Try the Gold Medal Pale Ale. Compare it with the Hazy IPA. Hunt down the IPA. Decide which one deserves the title of your favourite. Then raise a glass to the fact that this award-winning beer is being brewed by locals, supported by local businesses and soon, hopefully, made right here in Inverloch.

The brewery may be coming soon, but the Shack Bay experience is already part of Inverloch.

And if you find yourself debating which beer wins, that's a very good kind of problem to have. 🍺
