MK Thai is proudly run by Mark and Kib — a hard-working duo dedicated to bringing the flavours of Thailand’s northeast to Inverloch. Kib grew up in a small village outside Ubon Ratchathani, where cooking was a way of life. From an early age, she was at her mother’s and grandmother’s sides in the kitchen and later joined her brother as a street food vendor. These experiences shaped her traditional, home-style approach to Thai cooking.
Now living her dream of owning a restaurant, Kib brings that same authenticity to every dish at MK Thai. Everything is made fresh to order, with house-made sauces, the freshest, quality, local ingredients and recipes passed down through generations.
It’s rare to find a Thai restaurant where the food isn’t rushed or pre-cooked — and that’s exactly what sets MK Thai apart. From Pad Kee Mao and Pad Thai (Kib’s favourites) to Pad Med and Green Curry (Mark’s top picks), each dish is thoughtfully prepared and rich with flavour.
So how did MK Thai find its home in Inverloch? It was a mix of fate and love for the town. After visiting regularly and with Mark’s mum making Inverloch home, they spotted a shopfront, took a leap — and the rest is delicious history.
As Mark puts it, “Who wouldn’t want to live here? A beautiful small town on the beach.”
Inverloch is lucky to have such a traditional, heartfelt dining experience in town. If you’re a lover of Thai cuisine, it’s absolutely worth the trip. Just make sure you come hungry.
