Wildlife of the Night – Spotlighting tour
Host: Bunurong Environment Centre
Location: 1 Ramsey Boulevard, Inverloch
Date: Wednesday, 15 April 2026
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Most of Australia’s small mammals are nocturnal, with approximately 70% of species active after dark. Spotlighting at night is one of the best ways to observe these animals in their natural environment.
This guided evening walk takes place through the Screw Creek and Anderson Inlet area of Inverloch, a unique local habitat home to a wide range of wildlife. Species that may be observed include Strzelecki Koalas, possums, native bush rats, water rats, gliders, wombats, owls (often detected by their calls), and microbats emerging at or after dusk to forage.
The walk is an easy stroll suitable for most fitness levels. As wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, each event offers a different experience. Weather permitting, a short astronomy component may also be included.
