Wildlife of the Night – Spotlighting in Inverloch
Hosted by: Bunurong Environment Centre
Location: 1 Ramsey Boulevard, Inverloch VIC 3996
Date: Tuesday, 7 April 2026
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Event Overview
Most of Australia’s small mammals are nocturnal, with around 70% of all Australian mammal species active after dark. One of the best ways to see them is by going spotlighting at night.
Join us in Inverloch, where a unique local habitat supports a wide range of fascinating wildlife. This guided evening walk offers the chance to observe native animals in their natural environment, including Strzelecki Koalas, possums, native bush rats, water rats, owls (often spotted once their calls are heard), gliders, wombats, and microbats emerging at or after dusk to forage.
The walk is an easy stroll through the beautiful Screw Creek and Anderson Inlet area. As with all wildlife experiences, sightings can’t be guaranteed, but each walk offers something special. Weather permitting, we may also enjoy a little bit of astronomy during the evening.
