Inverloch’s Winter Treasure Hunt: Explore, Discover & Colour

As the cooler weather rolls in and the sea breeze picks up, it’s the perfect time to bundle up and head outside for a fresh-air adventure with the kids. Inverloch’s Winter Treasure Hunt invites families to slow down, explore the outdoors and enjoy some creative fun- with a little help from our Scavenger Hunt and Colouring-In Sheets now available to download.

Whether you're staying for the weekend, visiting loved ones, or calling Inverloch home, this is your invitation to wander, wonder and make magic memories.

Start your adventure by the Sea.. or Follow the Bush Tracks…

There’s no set starting point — just pick a place and start exploring! Head to the Inverloch Jetty to spot stingrays gliding through the water, or wander along Flat Rocks where rockpools are full of surprises.

Prefer gumboots over tidepools? Screw Creek is a great option, with muddy paths, mossy logs, and maybe even an echidna or two. You could also explore the campground tracks or nearby parks, keeping your eyes peeled for birds, feathers, and other little treasures along the way.

What Will You Spot?

This isn’t about digging for buried treasure — it’s about noticing the magic in the little things. Your scavenger hunt might include:

  • 🪶 A feather left behind by a coastal bird

  • 🦀 A crab hiding in a rock crevice

  • 🦢 Footprints in the sand — bird, human or mystery?

  • 🪨 A smooth pebble shaped like a love heart

  • 🌿 Seaweed swirled into ocean art

  • 🛶 Boats bobbing gently in the bay

  • 👣 A trail of tiny thongs forgotten by the sea

Can you find them all?

When the Exploring Is Done...

After your adventure, head indoors and bring the fun home with our Inverloch-themed Colouring-In Sheets — featuring local animals like kangaroos, wombats, stingrays, kookaburras, and more.

Pull out the pencils while the grown-ups relax with a coffee or hot chocolate at one of Inverloch’s friendly cafés. Or grab a snack from Paul the Pieman — hot jam donuts and a Mac & Cheese pie go down a treat on a winter’s day!

The Real Treasure? Time Together

At the end of the day, the best thing your kids will take home isn’t colouring sheet or ticked check list, it’s the memory of time well spent together. Exploring, collecting, giggling and spotting something they’ve never noticed before.

And maybe, just maybe, finishing it off with a sweet treat from Treat Time, Inverloch’s old-fashioned lolly shop where the jars are full and the smiles come easy.
