Trees and Bees - Guest Speaker: Ian Cane

Date: Sunday 7 June
Time: 11:00am – 12:30pm
Location: Bunurong Environment Centre
Address: 1 Ramsey Blvd, Inverloch

Enjoy an engaging and informative talk with Ian Cane, a third‑generation beekeeper (now retired) with over 50 years’ experience in the Australian apiculture industry.

Ian’s lifelong fascination with forests, bees, and ecosystems began in childhood while beekeeping alongside his father and grandfather. Influenced by early observations of the Murray–Darling ecosystem and Box–Ironbark forests during the 1960s, his experiences shaped a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable land management.

A passionate advocate for the apiculture industry and food security, Ian has represented the industry on many occasions and continues to promote improved management of public land so that environmental, economic, and social values are protected for future generations.

“Healthy forests = healthy bees = healthy people!”
