Frank Yamma (Pitjantjatjara)
with special guest Charles Maimarosia
Uncle Frank Yamma is one of Australia’s most significant Indigenous songwriters, renowned for his ability to cross cultural and musical boundaries. A Pitjantjatjara man, Frank sings in both his native language and English, delivering mighty songs through magical guitar playing and a deeply evocative voice.
His music tells powerful stories of country, protection, heartache, travel, and love. Although based in Adelaide, Frank’s spirit belongs to the heart of Australia — Uluru, Docker River, Ernabella, Central Australia — “wherever the Pitjantjatjara mob come from.”
Frank Yamma has recently performed at major festivals including Yabun, WOMADelaide, Woodford Folk Festival, the National Multicultural Festival, and numerous acclaimed folk festivals around Australia, frequently receiving standing ovations.
